This work is based on a photoshop algorithm called Randomised Correspondence Algorithm for Structural Imaging Editing. It is accessed by selecting an area of an image and press backspcae. In the menue that pops up, select Content-aware and press OK. The algorithm will delete the selected area and fill it in algorithmically based on the area around the selected area. So that's the technical stuff.
This process intrigues me as a illustrating medium of the core differeneces in human-computer perseption of the functional space. The algorithm continues shapes in what seems an act of desperation, rather than a effortless calculation (which defines such a large part of computer thinking). This work is addressing the issue in 1:1 scale, by placing the prints on the location it was originally captured. The red line defines the selected area. This work has not been installed yet, so these are only preview images.
This work was on an exhibition at Weekends gallery in South London. More info and pictures form the show here.
