Algorithmic City Planning

The series of 12 prints illustrate a computer generated city planning for Godsbanen, the old freight yard in Aarhus, Denmark. Today the area hosts on one hand to the city run culture production centre that adopted the same name, Godsbanen, and on the other hand to Institut for (X), a self-organised culture and business platform. In the past few years there has been an active discussion about how to develop the area and this work offers 12 algorithmic solutions. The program does not understand the actual function of things, merely shape and colour tone, hence the weird placement of car parks and houses. The aim of the program is to make the area blend in seamlessly.
