There is a undeniable polarity between our expectations towards technology and our fear of technological development. We expect computers to make tasks easier, but fear the day they steal our jobs, we expect them to make communication worldwide and reliable, but fear the lack of face to face human interactions. Most people occupy the in-between areas, i.e. the technological comfort zone of the internet café where you can skim the surface of the virtual, sharing a table with humans you don't know and have no intention of talking to, much like my situation right now as I write this.
